Jordan Minns hopes to influence positive change among the youth of Kenya’s Giotto slum. He purchased seven acres of land outside of Nakuru, Kenya, and established the LOV Movement, a charitable organization that has constructed a facility for children aged four to eight.
The facility hosts the main school building, staff housing, student housing, a kitchen, and a playground will all be located in one convenient location, and construction has begun on a library for the school that will include murals, a newspaper station, and a computer lab. Five acres have been designated for farming in order to provide food and revenue to the school. The school’s philosophy is based on the Montessori approach, which emphasizes the whole child through activities like group projects and field trips. Learning English is crucial because it will provide the kids with more options for the future.
In addition, the LOV Movement has launched two initiatives in collaboration with local organizer Reverend Anthony Njoroge and non-governmental organization NEEMA Childcare. They fund a weekly delivery of potable water to the slum, filling storage tanks so that residents have access to water for hygiene and food preparation at all times. There is also a program that provides healthy food once a week to some of the slum’s elderly residents who are unable to work.
The LOV Movement Gala 2023 on May 6th in Santa Clarita is an incredible way to support education for underprivileged children. With the purchase of a single general admission ticket, you will be assisting in the provision of quality education to children in Kenya. The ticket is all-inclusive, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the school. This is an incredible opportunity to give back and make a difference in the lives of children worldwide.
Innovative Collegiate Consultants is proud to be a sponsor of this event and to support the LOV Movement’s mission to improve the lives of people in Kenya’s Giotto slum. The LOV Movement’s efforts to build a school, provide food and water, and create jobs will, we believe, have a long-term impact on the community. We are also encouraged by the LOV Movement’s long-term initiatives, such as their farming and water delivery services. We ask that our supporters join us in supporting the LOV Movement and making a difference in the lives of the Giotto slum community.
